Crypto Pardons: What the Hell Just Happened?

Blockchain related 2025-11-03 18:35 17 Tronvault

Alright, let's get one thing straight: Trump saying he doesn't know who Changpeng Zhao is after pardoning the dude? Give me a freakin' break.

The Amnesia Defense

So, the "leader" of the free world, the guy who's gonna "Make America Great Again," claims he has "no idea" who CZ is? The same CZ who pleaded guilty to enabling money laundering? The same CZ whose company has ties to Trump's own ventures? This is either the most convenient case of amnesia ever, or... well, it's probably exactly what it looks like: another swampy deal.

Norah O'Donnell on 60 Minutes even asked him point blank about the "significant harm to US national security" Zhao caused. "I don't know who he is," Trump says. Seriously? According to a recent report, 'I don't know who he is,' says Trump after pardoning crypto tycoon.

And then there's Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, calling Zhao's prosecution a "war on cryptocurrency." A "war on cryptocurrency"? Is that what we're calling enabling money laundering now? It's an "overly prosecuted case by the Biden administration" she says.

Oh yeah, Biden's totally got it out for crypto. That's why Trump's all of a sudden a crypto savior. Please.

I'm not saying the Biden administration is perfect (far from it), but this whole thing stinks worse than a New Jersey landfill in August.

The Bot Brothers and the Blockchain Brawl

And while we're on the subject of crypto chaos, let's talk about these MIT "crypto brothers," James and Anton Peraire-Bueno, accused of pulling off a $25 million heist. These guys allegedly gamed the Ethereum blockchain with some fancy bot scheme. Now, they're on trial, and the question is whether it was fraud or just, you know, "fair play" in the Wild West of crypto.

"How is it even possible," one defense lawyer asked, "to allege that a pre-programmed bot was defrauded?" Good question. It's like asking if your toaster feels betrayed when you make toast.

Crypto Pardons: What the Hell Just Happened?

This trial could actually set a precedent. A guilty verdict might mean more crypto fraud prosecutions. An acquittal? Could be the green light for every scammer with a keyboard.

Which reminds me, I tried to buy concert tickets online last week, and the bots beat me to it again! Scalpers are the bane of my existence. How is that even legal? Anyway, back to crypto...

The article mentions that the SEC has been shutting down investigations into Coinbase, OpenSea, Robinhood, and Kraken. And that Trump pardoned CZ. It really does seem like the war on crypto is over. Or at least, it's being refocused on individual fraudsters.

But wait a second... Is policing the blockchain even possible? I mean, we're talking about code, algorithms, and a level of complexity that makes my head spin. Can a jury even understand this stuff? Will they get lost in the diagrams, spreadsheets, and testimony?

The Trump Family Crypto Connection

And let's not forget the Trump family's own crypto ventures. World Liberty Financial, anyone? Remember that stablecoin thing? And Justin Sun's $75 million investment?

See, this is where it all comes full circle. Trump claims ignorance, but his family's got their hands deep in the crypto cookie jar. It's all connected, folks. It's always connected.

Then again, maybe I'm the crazy one here. Maybe Trump really doesn't know who CZ is. Maybe the Peraire-Bueno brothers are just misunderstood geniuses. Maybe crypto is the future.

Nah.

This Ain't No Coincidence
