AMD Earnings Report: What Happened and Why You Shouldn't Care
AMD's Earnings: Smoke and Mirrors or the Real Deal?
Alright, let's get this straight. AMD's earnings are dropping after the bell, and everyone's acting like they know what's gonna happen. Analysts are throwing around numbers – $1.17 adjusted EPS, $8.76 billion in revenue, up 28% year-over-year... Give me a break. It's all just educated guessing.
The Numbers Game
They're expecting AMD to pull in $1.17 per share, adjusted. Up from $0.92 last year. Okay, cool. But what does that actually mean for the average person? Jack squat, that's what. It's just numbers on a screen until some CEO decides to buy another yacht with it. Seriously, who are these "analysts" anyway? Do they even use AMD products, or are they just regurgitating corporate talking points?
And the revenue? $8.76 billion. Sounds impressive, right? Up 28%? But what's the cost of that growth? Are they squeezing their suppliers? Are they working their engineers to the bone? Nobody ever talks about that part, do they? It's always just "growth, growth, growth" at any cost.
I saw a guy the other day bragging about his new Ryzen CPU. He was practically foaming at the mouth. But did he stop to think about the supply chain issues, the environmental impact, the potential for exploitation somewhere down the line? Nah. He just wanted to play his video games at 4K.

SMCI Enters the Chat
Oh, and SMCI is reporting too. Great. Another tech company spewing out jargon and hype. Honestly, all these earnings reports just feel like a giant circle jerk for Wall Street. The suits patting each other on the back while the rest of us are just trying to make rent. According to AMD earnings after the close, the numbers are expected to drop after the bell.
Then again, maybe I'm the crazy one here. Maybe I'm just too cynical. Maybe these companies are actually doing good things for the world. Nah, who am I kidding? It's all about the money. Always has been, always will be.
I remember back in '99 when everyone was convinced the internet was going to solve all our problems. We'd all be rich, connected, and happy. And now? Now we're all just arguing with strangers on Twitter and doomscrolling through endless bad news. Progress, I guess?
Offcourse I'm not saying AMD is solely responsible for the downfall of civilization. But they're part of the machine. They're feeding the beast. And until we start questioning the fundamental assumptions of this whole system, nothing's going to change.
So, What's the Real Story?
It's all a gamble, isn't it? AMD's earnings, SMCI's earnings, the whole damn stock market. We're all just placing bets on which company will screw us over the least. Maybe AMD will surprise us. Maybe they'll actually do something good with all that money. But let's be real, I ain't holding my breath.
